The year at YCU opened more opportunities to me than I could have ever expected. From finding one of my best friends at the Taekwondo club to meeting interesting professors from different nationalities and fields of expertise, learning a new language like Korean at the diverse language courses at the university or meet interesting people coming to YCU from all over the world.

International College of Arts & Science, Class of 2020

I chose YCU because I believed that I could concentrate on my studies due to the low student-faculty ratio, and because of the convenience of the transportation environment. In university classes, I have studied economics from various perspectives, including micro and macro. In this context, we can actively anticipate future changes by learning about the world in which we live in a relative study of everything from consumption behavior to world politics in a single study of economics. In addition to these, I also tried to use my school program to do internships in Australia and broaden my horizons. In the future, I would like to make use of what I have cultivated in this way and play an active role in the world.

International College of Arts & Sciences, Faculty Class of 2019

I started preparing for job hunting in the fall of my third year, but the selection of my first choice company, which I had decided vaguely, started early, so it was a start with only anxiety and impatience. Since I majored in biology in the science field, I was struggling to see how I could appeal to people in different industries, so I consulted with the career support center and corrected my resume and entry sheet. Thanks to the fact that we worked together to make it a good one, I was able to summarize my thoughts clearly in the end, and I was able to go into this selection with confidence. I think that the fact that I was able to get a job offer safely was not only guidance from the career support center, but also because I was able to deepen my knowledge of various fields at YCU, where the distance between faculty and staff is close to each other on a daily basis, and broaden my horizons.

    Yuna H.

School of Data Science, Class of 2021

I chose this faculty because I was also a graduate from the liberal arts and learned mathematics and statistical knowledge and was able to acquire practical skills that are directly linked to the future. YCU’s DS faculty is smaller than other faculties, so you can take classes in a cozy atmosphere. There are many discussions between teachers and students in the class, and we can follow each other. In the future, I would like to deepen my learning so that I can acquire a knowledge that allows me to look at society and things from a bird’s-eye view using data. Also, since this field can be expected to be used in a wide variety of fields, I feel that it will be useful in the future if I can gain a broader understanding of my future by touching on various fields while studying.

    Yurika N.

School of Medicine, Class of 2021

I have been interested in iPS cells for a long time, and I have been accepted by Prof. Takebe’s laboratory, which handles organoids (small organs that can be cultured in three dimensions) of the liver derived from iPS cells. I had a valuable experience of having my own theme and reading papers and instructions while getting advice from researchers around me. At first it was just a failure, but I wrote a reflection note every time and repeated the experiment carefully. Finally, I got clean data and finally announced the results at the laboratory meeting. I met Prof. Takebe, who always had the intention of developing the basics into clinical practice, and realized new ideas one after another. It became clear that the goal of continuing to learn the latest world-standard medicine and engaging in research in some way to contribute to medical progress.

    Atsuhiro K.

School of Medicine, Class of 2021

I wanted to go to YCU because of its international nature and the presence of two university hospitals. In addition, since there are multiple faculties, I find it attractive to be able to interact with other undergraduate students, especially in the first year. In addition, I think it is a good opportunity to go abroad and broaden my horizons, because I can interact with native English speakers and participate in overseas fieldwork in lectures. As for the vision for the future, I have not decided clearly yet, so I would like to focus on my daily study and think about my path through various lectures and extracurricular activities, including practical training.
