Does Rutgers SAS require a minor? ›

All SAS students are required to complete a major and a minor.

Full-time students normally declare their major in the second semester of their second year, although some majors encourage students to declare even earlier in order to facilitate the planning needed for an appropriate sequence of the courses required to complete the major within four years.

All incoming students enter Rutgers undeclared. Selecting a major, like other academic planning decisions, depends on your goals and interests.

The Core Curriculum is organized around a set of concrete learning objectives that encompass the skills most needed for active citizenship and most valued by employers, such as the ability to think critically and creatively, to reason quantitatively, and to communicate effectively.

The acceptance rate at Rutgers is 66.3%.

This means the school is somewhat selective.

Satisfactory academic performance is earned at the end of the semester in which the student was on Warning or Probation. during the Fall Semester, the term GPA at the end of the semester must be greater than or equal to 2.00.

This is referred to as the “Ten Year Rule.” Prior to consideration for promotion, a candidate who has been an Associate Professor for ten years or more after the granting of tenure, may, upon written request, wish to be considered as a ten year case for promotion to Professor.

A change of major should be discussed with the student's faculty adviser and the undergraduate program director of the curriculum the student plans to enter. Such a change should then be properly recorded on a Change of Major form available online at the SEBS website (sebs.rutgers.edu/academics).

Declaring a Major

For first-years applying to a major in the College, your choice of major will neither help nor hurt your prospects for admission.

Rutgers regular decision admissions acceptance rate for the class applying during the 2020 cycle was approximately 66.9% because it had 41,263 applicants and it admitted 27,618. Rutgers admission rate has remained consistent over the past couple years.
