Posted two weeks ago. Why is it still available? A "normal" 76kmile 91 at this price should sell quickly. From what I see in the pics, this 91SE is a great deal. It even has BBS!

Is it hiding flaws?
Could it be rusted-out underneath (no chassis pics)?
Is it the luggage rack?
Is it the economy?
Is it the location?
Am I wrong about the great price?

Help me Rhonda. Help, help, me Rhonda figure this one out.

I vaguely remember this either popping up via my CL alerts or on FB. That luggage rack is definitely a turn off.

To me the BBS wheels are not from a 92 or 93 Miata. I have a set off of a BMW and they are flatter, these resemble those more than the 92 SE or 93LE BBS'. Hard to tell in the pictures though.

If the car is as the ad says it is, then it is well worth the asking price. If it has not sold, I suspect that the car is not as it is advertised.

I’m happy to check it out if anyone is interested. I believe this car used to belong to one of our club members, so I might be able to get some inside information from the previous owner.

Is that a CB radio antenna on the back?

Yes, I believe so.

^^^ Those are usually not "permanent" so no damage done.

Re: the luggage rack, those are usially "permanent" and mounted with nuts/bolts thru the lid surface. So, one lives with it or buys a replacement trunk lid or pays the $$$$ to have the holes properly welded closed in the repair.

Me, I can live with the trunk-rack. Although it is not a "good look", it is period correct, and it is reminiscent of British roadsters with racks.

I don't like the wheels at all.
I'm also instantly suspicious of anyone claiming a 30+ year old rust belt car is in excellent condition...maybe it is, but I'm suspicious.
Another thing that could be impacting the sale is the basically instantaneous roll-in we got from Autumn this year. Winter really feels like its knocking on the door, and buying an old convertible right now would feel like a waste.

Here ya go. Different wheels, TX so probably less rust, and no claim of "excellent condition": $8500/obo.

Disliking BBS wheels on a Miata is just wrong. It is like disliking puppies or apple pie.

I agree; that’s not allowed.

I was thinking of going to take a look at this car? What stood out that makes it a turd to you? Curious as I am in search of my first Miata. Thanks

Ugly is ugly, no matter whose label is on it.

Ugly is ugly, no matter whose label is on it.

Agreed.

Unfortunately for your argument, I think the wheels look great. It has nothing to do with the label on them.

Yeah, it's also hard to tell what the undercarriage looks like. And sort of hard to see the engine bay in those PICS. Oh wait, there are NO PICs of either the engine or the underside.

Geez, I am always amazed how people expect to sell items online with no pertinent photos. Are they lazy or just clueless?:bang:

I think 90%+ of the potential buyers have no clue about what is "pertinent".
So, pretty photos meet their needs.
